Autumn McBride

Dr. McBride first moved to Athens, Ga. in 2006 to pursue her undergraduate degree in Journalism. After a short career as a photojournalist in North Georgia, she returned to UGA in 2015 to pursue a degree in veterinary medicine, and has been a feline-focused veterinarian in a variety of roles since that time. After completing a rotating internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at Bluepearl Veterinary Partners in Tampa, Fla., Dr. McBride began serving the cats of Tampa Bay as a general practitioner at The Cat Doctors of South Tampa. Driven by her love of teaching and research (and desire to return to Georgia), she returned to her alma mater in 2021 to join the clinical faculty at the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine as a feline-focused primary care clinician. In this role, she helped develop the feline curriculum for current vet students and served as the advisor to the UGA student chapter of the Feline Veterinary Medical Association (Feline VMA). She remains active with this chapter and in feline education for UGA veterinary students, and aims to continue broadening her skills and knowledge for herself, her students, patients, and our community.

She remains an avid researcher with published and ongoing projects on feline stomatitis, education, kidney disease, and gastrointestinal disorders. Outside of professional hours, Dr. McBride can be found enjoying time with her daughter, four cats, and attending Georgia football games with her family (Go Dawgs!).
